This week I am joined by someone who I love and admire very much, Hector. With more than 20 years of experience in music behind him, Hector has recently started a new project called VL Camp in which attendees will learn and work side by side with different professionals in the music industry. From building a brand to career management, new tools and techniques, production masterclasses and more, Hector has built VL Camp with the aim to share all of his knowledge and experience with others.

We talk about the camp itself and the importance of sharing music, knowledge and experiences, how having his full record collection stolen actually turned out to be an amazing story, starting Vatos Locos and how it has grown to what it is today and more!

Kami Tadayon (Lost Beach Club)

Kami Tadayon is an entrepreneur, worldwide party promoter, and founder of the renowned Lost Beach Club, the only town where clubs and bars can open at the moment (due to Covid) in Ecuador.

For those who do not yet know Lost Beach Club, it is… A-ma-zing. It’s been voted many times in the top 100 clubs in the world, the party ends when Kami and his guest DJs want to end (which can sometimes be days!), its location is, as you will have already guessed, lost in a beautiful surf town, it has a Funktion One sound system, its walls are covered in mind-blowing 3D painting and some of the world's biggest DJs play there on a regular basis.

It was great to listen to all of Kami’s stories on how his journey began in promoting events and all about the mission he is on in life.

This week my guest is agent and all-round lovely guy, Dave Blackgrove. Dave is an agent at Paradigm, a worldwide talent agency that provides global representation to a diverse and dynamic roster of artists not only in music but also in television, comedy, theatre and beyond. Representing artists in the electronic music department such as Fisher, CamelPhat, Solardo, Latmun, Detlef, Sonny Fodera, Dom Dolla and Elderbrook, Dave has played a huge part in the growth of many of these artist’s careers as well as their projects. In this episode, we chat about how his role as an agent has been affected by Covid, releasing music during this time, how he got to where he is today, the proudest moments of his career and more!

Alex has rapidly established himself as one of the leading names in the industry, releasing and remixing with well-respected labels including Hot Creations, Moon Harbour, Relief and Repopulate Mars.

Uli Wombacher: A virtual club experience by Watergate

In today’s podcast, I chat with Uli Wombacher, who is the director of one of Berlin’s most prestigious nightclubs, Watergate.

For the first time since the club was forced to close in March due to the lockdown, Watergate are hosting a club night again, but this time it’s virtually! The event, that takes place on Friday 10th July, will be streamed on a new online platform called YMO, which operates as an interactive space that brings the club experience to life in all its facets in a virtual way. 

 

Watergate will be opening it’s 2 rooms plus terrace, with an internationally renowned line up of DJs, live acts and Watergate residents who will be going to play for free, including Pan-Pot, Adana Twins, Who Made Who (LIVE), JAMIIE, Anja Schneider B2B Kristin Velvet, Biesmans (LIVE) and Yulia Niko. 

 

You can join the event alone, and meet new people, or invite your friends and have your own private party of up to 5 people. You can meet for a little get together in the toilets, where voice chat is enabled and there’s even a  ‘Call The Bouncer’ option which allows clubbers to report any inappropriate behavior, racism or discrimination. They really have through of everything!

Sam Feldt: Sustainability within the dance music industry

Sam works really hard at promoting a more sustainable lifestyle and his mission is a common thread across all of the Heartfeldt business chain: Heartfeldt Radio, Heartfeldt Events, and now Heartfeldt Records, which he recently launched. In this episode we talk about how all of his business work together towards sustainable living globally, the biggest changes that need to be made to allow the dance music industry to grow in a more sustainable way, how clubs, festivals, artists and of course party-goers can all do their bit and about Plastic Promise, a Dutch platform that allows pioneers to share their knowledge and ambitions to reduce the event industry’s use of single-use plastic.
